Protecting My Home From The Monsoon Weather

Here we are again! It s Monsoon season!

Personally I am excited about the new weather that is approaching. Wind, Rain a little thunder and lighting is a nice change from the 115-degree weather we have in Arizona.

We all enjoy the wind, rain, dust storms and my favorite the thunder and lighting. While this is a fun change, unpredictable weather can have a negative impact on our homes.

Most homes are fine and will not suffer the significant damage that the typical monsoon weather can cause.  It is recommended that you walk around your home and look for any noticeable items that can be taken care of before damage occurs.  It’s much easier to repair than to replace.

1.     Looking at the roofline, check for any loose or missing tiles.  If you see something that is a concern ask your contractor to look at the roof.

2.     Trim any branches that are close to the home, if broken they can damage the roof or the window.  Trim yourself or ask your landscaper to trim the next time they are servicing your yard.  Be sure you ask for the price, trimming the trees can get a little expensive, if necessary only have the trees around the home trimmed for now.

3.    Dust can create issues with your A/C Condensers and your filters in your house. Call your Contractor for an A/C check. Change or wash your air filters.

4.     Checking the doors, do you feel a draft? The rubber seal may need to be replaced. Again you can usually do this yourself, be sure to ask for instructions.

Enjoy the weather we are having in Arizona and remember if you need any help
