How can I find a contractor I can trust with my remodel project?

Looking for a contractor can be stressful!. We too hear about remodel jobs gone wrong. Contractor skips town with homeowner’s money along with broken promises and unfinished projects.

How then can you find a contractor you can trust?

        1.   Ask your friends!  Ask them about the overall experience they had during their remodel. There will be times when frustration occurs; a remodel can be stressful at times. The overall experience should be a good one.

  2.   Meet with your contractor; ask for references from their sub contractors. Why? The general contractor who pays the sub contractors on time will be reputable and will offer assurance they will not skip town.

 3. Get referrals for current and past clients. This will show stability within the Contracting industry.

 4.      Contact the Registrar of Contractors and the Better Business Bureau; both will give you information such as complaints against the company.

 5.   Communication is the key! Ask questions about the process; tell your contractor you what a schedule for the project. This will keep you updated and the contractor on schedule.
